 About Great Lakes Ginseng 

Hidden just above the Great Lakes of Southern Ontario lies the best ginseng growing area in the world. The warm summers and cold winters, combined with the perfect sandy soil creates the optimal ginseng growing area for what is called American ginseng, also known by its full name, Panax quinquefolius.

Ginseng requires specific growing conditions in terms of weather and soil, large amounts of land to accommodate rotating fields and a lengthy growing period, taking three to four years to harvest ginseng from the time it is planted. Combined, these elements make ginseng one of the most difficult crops in the world to grow.

We are members of the OGGA (Ontario Ginseng Growers Association) and have been dedicated to growing ginseng in Southwestern, Ontario for over 25 years.
